5 Months now

Not posted for a while but its been 5 months now since i got to the philippines and there have been many ups and downs! But overall its ok,some thing still get me stressed like the driving here,the men if they get anywhere near anything with wheels lose ALL common sense and i am not joking! They never look ever when they pull out into traffic as they seem to think there will be nothing coming and when you honk at them they wonder why,they really are complete idiots!!!!!!!!!!! And why do shop owners employ people that know nothing about what they are selling? Also they favorite phrase here is "NO MORE STOCK" hehe............. and i always know when they are going to say it and get in first and this surprises them.....

But hey overall its a great place and even though the apartments were a mess when i got them,they are nearly sorted now with all new fittings and furniture and the gardens are being landscaped and security walls are finished,all i am waiting on now is my nippa cottage which i can chill out in with a cold beer or bottle of wine.

Leah trys to keep me on the straight and narrow but i think she struggles sometimes as people here do not question authority,I DO and always will as i reckon i could run this country better than them,they are all bloody idiots!!

there ae some great places to visit here and so far we have visited bohol which is grea and chilled out and also siquijor which was also nice and very quiet but a bit weird,many stories about whichcraft and voodoo hehe......

There is one important thing i have learnt also NEVER TRUST ANYONE HERE AS ALL THEY WANT IS TO STITCH YOU UP FOR MONEY AND THEY WILL DO THEIR BEST TO DO SO!!!!

Baslay hot springs

Wow! What a great place,Anyone who comes to Negros should visit baslay hot sulphur springs,its a long way down the 350 steps and even longer on the way up!!! But it worth all the effort.
Anyway four of us went for the day and had a great day there just relaxing in the hot smelly water hehe. Also we took some great pics and i explored the outer reaches of the rainforest,i have always wanted to visit a rainforest and all around Mt Tallinis is rainforest and it is the highest peak in southern negros.Was offered a guide to take us to the top and camp one night next to the lake so this is on the agenda sometime soon :)

After this place was destroyed by tropical storm sendong in December 17 2011 it is now up and running again to an extent, the piping is not fixed very well for the cold water but you can drop the black cold water pipe into the pool to cool it down to the required temps. Also the path from the bottom of the steps has never been replaced but it's not difficult to cross the small river and walk up to the pools. The nippa cottages are also all collapsed due to lack of maintenance but I'm siure someone soon will renovate one or two of them.

Staying in a Filipino house!!

Well i got to stay in a filipina house the other evening and a pleasant experience it was except the very cold shower outside with a bucket in the morning hehe,and was much to everyones amusement!!!! Also no toilet at all,so bushes had to do!!!!!
What a different lifestyle we have in western europe and i think we should all appreciate it more than we do as alot of people here have nothing and live for the day only! We seem to take everything for granted and we are never hungry,it must really piss of the filipino's us western people coming here with money and all our flash cars and toys.............
Anyway i have settled in my new home and all seems to be going well so far,still struggling with the heat a little and taking around 3 showers a day,(cold one's)who needs hot water here hehe!!!
Seems like i am always busy as there is always something to do or places to visit,hopefully leah is settling in ok aswell,she still insists on cleaning the house everyday and handwashing if she can get away with it hehe......

Got here at last.

I arrived in the phils on the 6th july 2011 and so far everything is ok,no where permanent to live yet but looking for a place to rent for a while. Have got my self some transport in the form of a mitsubishi strada 08 model and great to drive,it was terrifying to start with driving but getting used to it now,all you got to remember is they come from all directions and at night alot of the motorcycles have no lights grrrr and some of the sights you see hehe. Everyone seems to drive along the center line of the road and seems to be wiil practised here that if you have a bike you take all mirrors off!!!!!

1 week tomorrow !

Wed 29th june is the last day at arcot and been here nearly 17 yrs now,just a month short,going to spread myself arounds friends for the last week as leaving the uk on 5th july at 12.30 from heathrow via hong kong to cebu.
Not quite sure about anything else yet from there hehe but i'm sure it will sort it self out when i get there hmmm............

House is completely empty now except for by bedding a coffe pot and some stale milk hehe.................... Still got internet until wednesday morning but i am sure i can cope without it for a while,would the world still work without mobiles and the internet?
Anyway i'm still sad about leaving in some ways but also have good thoughts about what i am doing so just trying to think positive as i know there are some good things going to happen just around the corner somewhere!!!
Going to miss all my mates and even some of my loyal cusomers but hey thats what we got facebook and skype for :)

New Venture

Well things have changed just slightly now as this block of four appartments are up for sale,just finished last yr and all rented out. Built buy a guy from the uk and now he wants to come back to the uk for his son to get an English education. This will atleast give me a reasonable income over there,at the moment he rents three and lives in one appartment.





We have spent a fair bit on updating the apartments over the last few years and now atlast they are getting a lot of interest and as of now they are mostly rented.
These are old pictures of when we took them on, the windows have all been changed along with all the furniture and also now fully furnished.

House sold

Well the house has eventually sold but had to reduce it a bit but hey i am now off to the phils on 1st week of july.Have nearly sold everything i own now from the house and business,a bit stessful this moving lark and not so bad if i was relocating in the uk.

I also have been trying to get out in the countryside more as going to miss this country and i love this time of year so much,the birds are singing and everything is coming back into life again.Its great to just get out into the woods and just chill out under a beech tree and watch the wildlife and just listen to the birds singing.

Decided i will take the kayak as the phils was just made for yakking with 7100 islands tehe,also just going to take a couple of boxes of personal items also,not much really to show for 47yrs tehe but hey who cares...........................................

I had another offer on the house yesterday but still not enough money,but hey i think they will get there in the end and buy it as i know they are keen,anyway they still going to get a bargain at the price i want........
Spring has really arrived in the uk now,the birds are singing and the trees and flowers are all coming out,just perfect for a bit of wild camping somewhere in the forest.

I visited the Philippines for a few weeks in january just for a holiday and realized it was a place i could live,i checked out house prices and work opertunities and decided to move there and start again.
It has wonderful weather and climate,great fishing,fantastic scenery and really great seafood,what else could i want!!!
So i got back to the uk on sunday and monday morning i put the house on the market,i have had some interest but no firm offer yet but atleast the house is nearly empty now and everything taken care of.

Well i will give this a go with a blog as i am off to the Philippines to live soon.
It all started last october,i decided that enough was enough in the uk,don't get me wrong but i do love this country but its just the way its run and cannot see myself getting anywhere here anymore.
I will miss my friends and kids but hey its only a plane ride away and vise versa,am also going to miss Dartmoor and our beautiful countryside and just getting out there.
